About Rehearsal Box

Rooms by the hour, without the drama.

Rehearsal space in London is expensive, opaque and booked through a maze of emails and phone calls. Rehearsal Box exists to fix that: real rooms, real photos, honest pricing, live calendars, and booking by the hour — 7am to 11pm, every day of the week. We've been putting subsidised space in the hands of artists for over 8 years, and now we're opening the doors wider.

Pay What You Can

Money should never be the reason the work doesn't happen.

We run a Pay What You Can scheme for unfunded work — subsidised rates arranged directly with us, not through the public booking calendars. Email us to ask about access.

If you're funded, book the standard rate — it's what keeps the subsidised slots alive for the next company. That's the whole system.

Frequently asked.

What kind of rehearsals are the rooms for?
Theatrical work — plays, devising, R&D, auditions, non-commercial workshops, table reads, self-tapes. These are rehearsal studios, not sound stages: expect some sound bleed in and out, and no amplified music in Studio Tardieu (a cappella or a small Bluetooth speaker is fine — we reserve the right to ask for quiet if sound carries).
Can I put on a performance or ticketed show?
Not through the booking calendar — bookings are for rehearsals and non-commercial work (workshops welcome). The rule of thumb: anything beyond a normal rehearsal — ticketing, an audience, house support, any kind of event — must be arranged with us formally first: email contact@playhouseeast.com.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Sunday, 7am – 11pm. Early calls, late runs, weekend intensives — book whatever your schedule needs.
Can I book long-term or block bookings?
Yes — hourly, daily and long-term packages are all available. For multi-week blocks (a full rehearsal process, say), email us and we'll sort a package rate.
How does Pay What You Can actually work?
It's arranged directly, not through the public calendars — email us about your project and we'll sort access to the subsidised rates.
Can I change or cancel a booking?
Bookings can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before your slot using the link in your confirmation email. Full terms are shown at checkout.
I run a venue — can I list my room here?
Yes please. We're growing Rehearsal Box across London. Apply to list your space — we review every application and visit every room before it goes live.
